VANITAS
Vanitas' work is a seed thrown into the loose soil of intuition. I let them grow. The work itself leads me, dictating rhythm, evoking color, finding form. I only follow it, intervening just enough not to destroy the delicate balance between control and trust. I work in layers, allowing the pigment to seep through the texture, to combine with other colors, sometimes in conflict. It's important to me not to drown out the voice of the material. Color plays a major role here: it burns, it fades, it hides under a translucent veil. The shapes slip away like reflections on water. I don't need to name them - it is enough that they exist, even if only for a moment. The paintings in this series are born out of a process. Out of trust in the unknown. Sometimes it feels like I'm just giving space for them to happen. And when they do - I just step aside. Vanitas refers to an old genre where artists talked about mortality through symbols. My symbols are a warm silhouette, a sweat, paint that has not completely dried. Not disappearance, but transformation. I don't give explanations - I give space to stop. To stare. Breathe more slowly. The idea that everything in the world is impermanent, that time is inexorable and undeniable. And many things are ephemeral, fragile and vulnerable. Many of my paintings often contain literal or indirect references. Despite any possible similarities, I encourage a more open reading of my work. I want to bring up your feelings that lie deep inside on the surface.
